Comparison

Quizonator or ChatGPT for online quizzes? An honest comparison.

Both tools use AI, but they were built for different jobs. ChatGPT is a general-purpose chat. Quizonator is a tool that works inside the quiz page. The difference shows up mainly in how much work each question takes.

The short version

  • Choose Quizonator if you take quizzes on Moodle, Canvas, Forms, Quizizz or Testportal and do not want to paste every question into a chat.
  • Choose ChatGPT if you want to talk a topic through, write a longer text or learn a subject from scratch.
  • Plenty of people use both: Quizonator during the quiz, ChatGPT for studying beforehand.

When Quizonator is the better fit

The quiz is timed

Copying questions eats seconds that you simply do not have with a per-question limit.

There are many questions

With dozens of questions, the gap between one click and five steps becomes huge.

You do not want to switch tabs

Everything happens in the test window. You never hunt for the right tab or lose your place.

You want to revisit questions

Quiz history keeps questions, answers and explanations in one place, for example for revision before an exam.

When ChatGPT is the better fit

You are learning a topic from scratch

Conversation, follow-ups and examples are what a chat does best. Quizonator is not a tutor.

You are writing something long

An essay, a report or a project needs work on the text, not a pointer to an answer option.

Your platform is not supported

Outside the platform list Quizonator offers Snapshot mode, but for a single question a chat can be just as handy.

You need one tool for everything

ChatGPT also helps with emails, code and translation. Quizonator does one thing.

Worth remembering with both tools

Both tools can be wrong, especially when a question relies on your teacher’s materials rather than general knowledge. That is why Quizonator shows an explanation with every suggestion, and why it pays to ask ChatGPT for its reasoning.

Your teacher and your institution decide which aids are allowed in an assessment. Check the rules before you use either tool on graded work.

Frequently asked questions

Is Quizonator just ChatGPT in a browser?

No. Quizonator is an extension and an app that recognise the question on the quiz page, match the analysis method to the question type and show the suggestion where you select the answer. It is not a chat window.

Can I take quizzes with ChatGPT alone?

You can: copy the question and the options into the chat, then carry the result back to the quiz. It works for a few questions and gets tedious in a long, timed test.

Is Quizonator more accurate than ChatGPT?

We do not publish accuracy comparisons with other tools. The difference we can describe fairly is the workflow: Quizonator analyses the answer options visible in the question and double-checks the result on more complex tasks.

How does the cost compare?

Quizonator has a FREE plan with 20 starter answers, plus PRO and PRO+ with a monthly answer allowance. Current prices are on the pricing page. ChatGPT has a free tier and its own paid plans.

Do I have to pick one?

No. The tools complement each other: a chat for studying and writing, Quizonator for quizzes on supported platforms.
